“I have been interested in art, music, photography and poetry for years. Lately, I have been submitting my drawings, most of which I compose on my work calendar. Whenever I am on break or lunch, I draw as a way to relieve the stress and pressure of work. It is a source of catharsis. I use the tools I have at my disposal, highlighters, colored pens, colored pencils, white out, marker, and number 2 pencils. These pieces are spontaneous in nature. I do enjoy reading surreal poems and surreal art, including the work of Dali, Magritte, and Picasso. Of course, my work is nothing close to theirs. My drawings are closer to the drawings of children. My inspiration comes from everyday life, the weather, nature, and the news. I also like to use as much color as I can in pieces. I try to use every color I have available on my desk. In the future I plan to use other materials for my drawings such as paint. I began to draw on my work calendar around 2002. I took a break doing that for whatever reason from 2002 to 2018. I figure I lost the inspiration. In 2018 I was diagnosed with colon cancer. I had successful surgery and had a four month recovery at home. When I returned to the office I began to draw again as a calming influence from stress and the demands of the job. The health scare seemed to kick-start a desire in me to resume drawing, taking photographs of things that are interesting to me, and include drawings with my poetry. Our future is not promised. I figure if there is anything in the world I love to do most, it is to create art in any medium.”
